The 1st Annual "TRI-TO-WIN" SavageMan International Triathlon
Welcome to the 1st Annual "TRI-TO-WIN" SavageMan International Triathlon – a beautiful, challenging,
but somewhat less savage addition to the SavageMan Triathlon Festival. Inaugural 2007 "Savages", by large survey margin, were highly favorable
to expansion of the SavageMan event to become a "Festival" weekend and requested an International distance option to broaden the overwhelming
interest and attraction to the growing legend of SavageMan. You asked, we delivered! The 1st Annual "TRI-TO-WIN" SavageMan International Triathlon
will be contested at the distances of 1.5k Swim (.93 miles), 39k Bike (24.3 miles), and 10k Run (6.2 miles). The backdrop of the western Maryland highlands
and Deep Creek Lake State Park venue combine with all the social and group activities of the full “TRI-TO-WIN” SavageMan Triathlon Festival to sufficiently
provide a real taste and flavor of the Festival’s “savage” nature.
Which SavageMan Race Is Right For Me?
While the SavageMan International Triathlon is a less savage option to the SavageMan Half with a shorter and more forgiving course, the International
event is a challenging race in it's own right and certainly is adequate to give participants a sampling of the beauty and savage terrain that defines the SavageMan.
But the International race is no replacement for "The World's Most Beautiful and Most Savage Triathlon".
If you are unsure which race to choose, test your inner savage and tackle the SavageMan Half; it has no peer in the sport of triathlon. As one participant in the inaugural SavageMan Half wrote, "If you are reading
this and thinking 'Maybe', just do it. You will not be sorry."
However, if you have never tried the
Half distance before or question whether you can finish under the cut-off times, then the SavageMan International can provide a savage alternative for you!
SavageMan International Overview
International course athletes will start in their own waves 60-minutes after the first Half course wave departs, completing a 1.5k swim course similar to the Half.
The 24.3 mile bike course shares the initial 2.2 miles of the World's Most Savage Half course before diverging and then merges with the Half racers for the final 12.5-miles where racers
from both races will ride in lock step into the final transition and head out through the State Park together to start the run. The 10K run course consists of two loops entirely within the confines of Deep Creek Lake State Park. Enjoy finishing the SavageMan International with your savage peers from the Half event and be prepared to experience all of the amenities and fun of the SavageMan Festival and post-race party.
